PK’s Jack Foster wins at the 2025 Cornwall Heritage Awards

We’re delighted to share the excellent news that Jack, who came all the way from Australia to volunteer with us last year, won the ‘One to Watch’ category at the Cornwall Heritage Awards last night!

Even though it was around 4 am in Australia, Jack got up to watch the ceremony online and appeared on the big screen looking surprisingly awake. Hear from the winner below:

“5 years ago, my only exposure to Cornwall was through “Escape to the Country”. But since then I’ve looked out over Land’s End, climbed St Michael’s Mount, watched the “world famous” Newlyn raft race, and… I just won a Cornwall Heritage Award! Yippee!!

Thank you for answering my random email sent nearly a year ago now. 5 years ago I could never have imagined things playing out how they did. You welcomed me into Porthcurno, gave me an absolutely delightful experience, and nominated me for an award. During my time at Porthcurno, I learnt so much and had a whole lot of fun. Please send my thanks and regards to the rest of the PK team.”

Unfortunately, Poppy did not win the Object of the Year, but still received a certificate for being highly commended.

Late last year, Jack participated in @kidsinmuseums #TakeoverDay

Jack brought an outstanding level of enthusiasm and friendliness, spending days gaining a range of experiences across different areas of our organisation. He ‘took over’ various roles, including working on the front desk, supporting family summer workshops, and delivering his very own talks to our museum visitors on attempts to communicate with extraterrestrials.
