Registered charity, PK Porthcurno, Museum of Global Communications, is seeking to appoint two or more new trustees.

Located in the far west of Cornwall at the site of the landing of the first undersea telegraph cable to India in 1870, the museum houses one of the most important international collections relating to the history of communications.  Our archive is an important resource for academics and researchers from all over the world. Within the museum, we tell the fascinating story of the development of communications from early inventions to today’s global optical fibre network that sustains the internet and digital communications. We actively engage with local schools and with the higher education sector.

We are seeking to attract people who can bring further expertise to the Board of Trustees in the following areas:

• Education (especially school age and families)
• Environmental responsibility
• Inclusivity and Relevance
• Cultural Strategy

We are also keen to hear from individuals who do not meet these specific criteria but believe they could contribute to our thinking and our future success and resilience.

The Board meets four times a year.  Three of these meetings are held online and one is held at Porthcurno.  Trustees are encouraged to engage with staff at times other than at formal Board meetings and to visit the museum when possible.
