Museum Reaches Finals for Two Environmental Awards

Telegraph Museum Porthcurno has reached the finals for two green awards in the Cornwall Museum Partnership and Cultural Enterprises Awards.

The nominations come as recognition of the efforts of staff and volunteers to become more conscious and active in lowering the environmental impact of the business.

Planet PK
The museum is undergoing a radical change through an environmental programme looking at the future of Porthcurno Valley. Through various partnerships and projects, the museum will be supporting and leading on sustainable tourism and conscientious land management.

One such project is the recent rewilding of areas within the museum grounds in a joint project with the Eden Project, funded by Tevi.

Cultural Enterprises Green Award
The winner of this national award will be announced on 19 March 2020.

Green Award, presented by the Association for Cultural Enterprises recognises successful initiatives in reducing environmental impact.

“Planet PK puts green values at the heart of the organisation’s business plans, a truly holistic approach that looks at everything from biodiversity and sustainability to reducing the impact of high footfall.”

CMP Environmental Impact award
The winner of the Cornwall Museums Partnership award will be announced 26th March 2020.

The award for Environmental Impact identifies any initiative that has made your organisation more sustainable and environmentally accountable, no matter how small the project.
