The PK Network Launches with VOIS as Founding Member
PK Porthcurno, Museum of Global Communications has announced the launch of The PK Network — an exclusive circle of industry leaders committed to shaping and protecting the future of global communications heritage.
More than a sponsorship relationship, the PK Network brings together an illustrious group of member organisations across a range of services and areas of expertise within the communications sector. This initiative has been launched with VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions), as the PK Network’s primary member. VOIS is the strategic arm of Vodafone Group Plc and creates value for customers by delivering intelligent solutions through Talent, Technology and Transformation. This multi-year agreement with PK Porthcurno celebrates the historic significance of a tiny Cornish village as the birthplace of international connectivity, dating from 1870, but it also looks to the future – seeking to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
More industry partners are joining VOIS in this consortium, each bringing their unique expertise, resources and insights. At the time of writing, PK Network members include West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC Group), Oceanic Environmental Cables (OEC), Gibtelecom, Subsea Networks, Bakers Botts and Xtera Subsea Networks. The support these members bring is not simply financial, it ranges from contributing to education and skills programmes via the museum, to providing advice and technology for exhibitions, objects and documents for the museum collections, digital capacity and championing sustainability initiatives. The PK Network’s mission honours the past, elevates the present and helps shape the future of global communications.
“The PK Network is an exciting chapter for PK Porthcurno and a new way of working for the museum. Like us, PK Network members are passionate about their shared heritage, and now through their membership they are actively contributing to the knowledge and understanding of the communications industry today and preserving those stories as heritage for the next generation.”
Julia Twomlow, Creative Director & CEO, PK Porthcurno
“As an educational charity, PK Porthcurno relies on sponsorship, grants and donations to keep our doors open to the public. The PK Network is a fabulous initiative, bringing together companies and individuals in the communications sector to support our work, helping us to protect this unique heritage for future generations and share, as widely as possible, the story of how we connected the world.”
Andy MacLeod, Chair of the Trustees, PK Porthcurno
“Our sponsorship with PK Porthcurno – Museum of Global Communications is more than a celebration of our industry’s past – it’s a powerful reminder of the invisible infrastructure that enables everything we do today, and plan to do in the future. At VOIS, we’re proud to honour that legacy while continuing to drive innovation and purpose across our global community as we apply a consortia approach to reinvent Shared Operations for Telco.”
Gary Adey, CEO, VOIS
