PK Porthcurno’s unique 1950s mobile telegraph unit, affectionately known as Poppy PK, recently made her first-ever appearance at the St Buryan Vintage Rally, an event hosted by the St Buryan Society. Established in 1978, the society aims to protect and preserve the rich heritage of the local agricultural sector. The rally celebrates classic motors, commercial vehicles, and agricultural exhibits, making it the perfect venue for Poppy PK’s debut.

The event was a whirlwind of excitement and activity. Over the course of the rally, we welcomed a steady stream of visitors who were eager to step aboard Poppy PK. Guests of all ages were fascinated by the various communication technologies showcased on board and loved the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat. It was a joy to share Poppy’s unique history and the story of telecommunication with everyone.

Outside, our stand was buzzing with activity. Children had a blast playing with our ever-popular giant bubbles, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. Visitors also took home a piece of the experience with our “Make Your Own Poppy” cut-out activity, a hit among families looking for a creative souvenir.

We were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and curiosity she sparked among attendees, young and old alike.
