Going Underground

A collaborative project between PK Porthcurno and Geevor Tin Mine has created a unique presentation of sights, sounds and original archive material.

The exhibition follows the building of the World War Two bunker in Porthcurno. It uses letters and photographs from the time of construction, sourced from the museum archive.

It explains why the bunker was built, who built it, the cost of the project and some of the challenges faced. A short film shows a visual timeline of the work, the artefacts you see in the room are examples of the type of equipment used during construction.

The exhibition has been led by one of the museum’s Communities in Residence volunteers.
