Your Citizen Curators Project for 2020

2020 is the 150th anniversary of the cable to India out of Porthcurno and we will be celebrating this over the course of the year.

In preparation, we will be offering our Citizen Curators a project: they will have to research, gather, and interpret what they find in the museum’s archives and present it in a series of short films to be premiered on the museum’s YouTube channel.

This offers them the opportunity to use the skills they will learn over the course of the Citizen Curator programme, and to then present the result to the public.

Each Citizen Curator will have curatorial control over their short film, or they can choose to work as a team, sharing their curatorial interests and interpretation if they so wish.

The short films will reflect the curatorial efforts and interests of the Citizen Curators, either as an individual or as a team.  Perhaps they will choose to focus on the science of telegraphy?  Perhaps they will focus on individual people?

They will be given technical support by a member of staff who will film and edit the short films together, all in conjunction with the Citizen Curators’ ideas.  Once they have completed the Citizen Curators programme in April 2020, the fruits of their labours will be shared online.

The Citizen Curators programme will begin this September.
