Build a kaleidoscope at Home

Our STEAM activity for January is to build a kaleidoscope at home. Through building the kaleidoscope, you can start to explore the colours and reflections.

How is this activity related to PK Porthcurno?

Fast communication around the world uses fibre optic cables. These work by reflecting light. Kaleidoscopes also use reflection, and are a good way to start thinking about how light and colours behave.

The below image shows blue and white light emerging from a bundle of optical fibres.
